Oxford, May 30, 1820 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEDFEF| Shame on this faithless heart that could allow | A |
| Such transport though but for a moment's space | B |
| Not while to aid the spirit of the place | B |
| The crescent moon clove with its glittering prow | A |
| The clouds or night bird sang from shady bough | A |
| But in plain daylight She too at my side | C |
| Who with her heart's experience satisfied | C |
| Maintains inviolate its slightest vow | A |
| Sweet Fancy other gifts must I receive | D |
| Proofs of a higher sovereignty I claim | E |
| Take from 'her' brow the withering flowers of eve | D |
| And to that brow life's morning wreath restore | F |
| Let 'her' be comprehended in the frame | E |
| Of these illusions or they please no more | F |
