Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEDFEFShame on this faithless heart that could allow | A |
Such transport though but for a moment's space | B |
Not while to aid the spirit of the place | B |
The crescent moon clove with its glittering prow | A |
The clouds or night bird sang from shady bough | A |
But in plain daylight She too at my side | C |
Who with her heart's experience satisfied | C |
Maintains inviolate its slightest vow | A |
Sweet Fancy other gifts must I receive | D |
Proofs of a higher sovereignty I claim | E |
Take from 'her' brow the withering flowers of eve | D |
And to that brow life's morning wreath restore | F |
Let 'her' be comprehended in the frame | E |
Of these illusions or they please no more | F |
