On Revisiting Dunolly Castle Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGFHIJHJI

The captive Bird was gone to cliff or moorA
Perchance had flown delivered by the stormB
Or he had pined and sunk to feed the wormC
Him found we not but climbing a tall towerD
There saw impaved with rude fidelityE
Of art mosaic in a roofless floorF
An Eagle with stretched wings but beamless eyeG
An Eagle that could neither wail nor soarF
Effigy of the Vanished shall I dareH
To call thee so or symbol of fierce deedsI
And of the towering courage which past timesJ
Rejoiced in take whate'er thou be a shareH
Not undeserved of the memorial rhymesJ
That animate my way where'er it leadsI
