November 1836 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAAAAACDCDCEEven so for me a Vision sanctified | A |
The sway of Death long ere mine eyes had seen | B |
Thy countenance the still rapture of thy mien | B |
When thou dear Sister wert become Death's Bride | A |
No trace of pain or languor could abide | A |
That change age on thy brow was smoothed thy cold | A |
Wan cheek at once was privileged to unfold | A |
A loveliness to living youth denied | A |
Oh if within me hope should e'er decline | C |
The lamp of faith lost Friend too faintly burn | D |
Then may that heaven revealing smile of thine | C |
The bright assurance visibly return | D |
And let my spirit in that power divine | C |
Rejoice as through that power it ceased to mourn | E |
