November 1836 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAAAAACDCDCE

Even so for me a Vision sanctifiedA
The sway of Death long ere mine eyes had seenB
Thy countenance the still rapture of thy mienB
When thou dear Sister wert become Death's BrideA
No trace of pain or languor could abideA
That change age on thy brow was smoothed thy coldA
Wan cheek at once was privileged to unfoldA
A loveliness to living youth deniedA
Oh if within me hope should e'er declineC
The lamp of faith lost Friend too faintly burnD
Then may that heaven revealing smile of thineC
The bright assurance visibly returnD
And let my spirit in that power divineC
Rejoice as through that power it ceased to mournE
