Memorials Of A Tour On The Continent, 1820 - Ii. - Bruges Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCACDCCCD

Bruges I saw attired with golden lightA
Streamed from the west as with a robe of powerB
The splendour fled and now the sunless hourB
That slowly making way for peaceful nightA
Best suits with fallen grandeur to my sightA
Offers the beauty the magnificenceC
And sober graces left her for defenseC
Against the injuries of time the spiteA
Of fortune and the desolating stormsC
Of future war Advance not spare to hideD
O gentle Power of darkness these mild huesC
Obscure not yet these silent avenuesC
Of stateliest architecture where the FormsC
Of nun like females with soft motion glideD
