Isle Of Man Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEEDFF

Did pangs of grief for lenient time too keenA
Grief that devouring waves had caused or guiltB
Which they had witnessed sway the man who builtB
This Homestead placed where nothing could be seenA
Nought heard of ocean troubled or sereneA
A tired Ship soldier on paternal landC
That o'er the channel holds august commandC
The dwelling raised a veteran MarineA
He in disgust turned from the neighbouring seaD
To shun the memory of a listless lifeE
That hung between two callings May no strifeE
More hurtful here beset him doomed though freeD
Self doomed to worse inaction till his eyeF
Shrink from the daily sight of earth and skyF
