Here Pause: The Poet Claims At Least This Praise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEEFEF

HERE pause the poet claims at least this praiseA
That virtuous Liberty hath been the scopeB
Of his pure song which did not shrink from hopeB
In the worst moment of these evil daysA
From hope the paramount 'duty' that Heaven laysA
For its own honour on man's suffering heartC
Never may from our souls one truth departC
That an accursed thing it is to gazeA
On prosperous tyrants with a dazzled eyeD
Nor touched with due abhorrence of 'their' guiltE
For whose dire ends tears flow and blood is spiltE
And justice labours in extremityF
Forget thy weakness upon which is builtE
O wretched man the throne of tyrannyF
