Farewell Lines Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST UVRWXYZA2

Hign bliss is only for a higher stateA
But surely if severe afflictions borneB
With patience merit the reward of peaceC
Peace ye deserve and may the solid goodD
Sought by a wise though late exchange and hereE
With bounteous hand beneath a cottage roofF
To you accorded never be withdrawnG
Nor for the world's best promises renouncedH
Most soothing was it for a welcome FriendI
Fresh from the crowded city to beholdJ
That lonely union privacy so deepK
Such calm employments such entire contentL
So when the rain is over the storm laidM
A pair of herons oft times have I seenN
Upon a rocky islet side by sideO
Drying their feathers in the sun at easeP
And so when night with grateful gloom had fallenQ
Two glow worms in such nearness that they sharedR
As seemed their soft self satisfying lightS
Each with the other on the dewy groundT
Where He that made them blesses their reposeU
When wandering among lakes and hills I noteV
Once more those creatures thus by nature pairedR
And guarded in their tranquil state of lifeW
Even as your happy presence to my mindX
Their union brought will they repay the debtY
And send a thankful spirit back to youZ
With hope that we dear Friends shall meet againA2
