Epitaphs V. True Is It That Ambrosio Salinero Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQARL STU

True is it that Ambrosio SalineroA
With an untoward fate was long involvedB
In odious litigation and full longC
Fate harder still had he to endure assaultsD
Of racking malady And true it isE
That not the less a frank courageous heartF
And buoyant spirit triumphed over painG
And he was strong to follow in the stepsH
Of the fair Muses Not a covert pathI
Leads to the dear Parnassian forest's shadeJ
That might from him be hidden not a trackK
Mounts to pellucid Hippocrene but heL
Had traced its windings This Savona knowsM
Yet no sepulchral honours to her SonN
She paid for in our age the heart is ruledO
Only by gold And now a simple stoneP
Inscribed with this memorial here is raisedQ
By his bereft his lonely ChiabreraA
Think not O Passenger who read'st the linesR
That an exceeding love hath dazzled meL
No he was One whose memory ought to spreadS
Where'er Permessus bears an honoured nameT
And live as long as its pure stream shall flowU
