England, 1802 Ii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBBADEEFDF

Milton thou shouldst be living at this hourA
England hath need of thee she is a fenB
Of stagnant waters altar sword and penB
Fireside the heroic wealth of hall and bowerA
Have forfeited their ancient English dowerC
Of inward happiness We are selfish menB
O raise us up return to us againB
And give us manners virtue freedom powerA
Thy soul was like a Star and dwelt apartD
Thou hadst a voice whose sound was like the seaE
Pure as the naked heavens majestic freeE
So didst thou travel on life's common wayF
In cheerful godliness and yet thy heartD
The lowliest duties on herself did layF
