Emperors And Kings, How Oft Have Temples Rung Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABBAABCDCDCD

EMPERORS and Kings how oft have temples rungA
With impious thanksgiving the Almighty's scornB
How oft above their altars have been hungA
Trophies that led the good and wise to mournB
Triumphant wrong battle of battle bornB
And sorrow that to fruitless sorrow clungA
Now from Heaven sanctioned victory Peace is sprungA
In this firm hour Salvation lifts her hornB
Glory to arms But conscious that the nerveC
Of popular reason long mistrusted freedD
Your thrones ye Powers from duty fear to swerveC
Be just be grateful nor the oppressor's creedD
Reviving heavier chastisement deserveC
Than ever forced unpitied hearts to bleedD
