Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Iii. - Xi - Sacheverel Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADDCEFEFEF

A sudden conflict rises from the swellA
Of a proud slavery met by tenets strainedB
In Liberty's behalf Fears true or feignedB
Spread through all ranks and lo the SentinelC
Who loudest rang his pulpit 'larum bellA
Stands at the Bar absolved by female eyesD
Mingling their glances with grave flatteriesD
Lavished on 'Him' that England may rebelC
Against her ancient virtue high and lowE
Watchwords of Party on all tongues are rifeF
As if a Church though sprung from heaven must oweE
To opposites and fierce extremes her lifeF
Not to the golden mean and quiet flowE
Of truths that soften hatred temper strifeF
