Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Iii. - Ix - William The Third Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDAEFEGEF

Calm as an under current strong to drawA
Millions of waves into itself and runB
From sea to sea impervious to the sunB
And ploughing storm the spirit of NassauA
Swerves not how blest if by religious aweC
Swayed and thereby enabled to contendD
With the wide world's commotions from its endD
Swerves not diverted by a casual lawA
Had mortal action e'er a nobler scopeE
The Hero comes to liberate not defyF
And while he marches on with steadfast hopeE
Conqueror beloved expected anxiouslyG
The vacillating Bondman of the PopeE
Shrinks from the verdict of his stedfast eyeF
