Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Xxxviii - Elizabeth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADDAEFGFHG

Hail Virgin Queen o'er many an envious barA
Triumphant snatched from many a treacherous wileB
All hail sage Lady whom a grateful IsleB
Hath blest respiring from that dismal warC
Stilled by thy voice But quickly from afarA
Defiance breathes with more malignant aimD
And alien storms with home bred ferments claimD
Portentous fellowship Her silver carA
By sleepless prudence ruled glides slowly onE
Unhurt by violence from menaced taintF
Emerging pure and seemingly more brightG
Ah wherefore yields it to a foul constraintF
Black as the clouds its beams dispersed while shoneH
By men and angels blest the glorious lightG
