Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Xxviii - Reflections Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEDCE

Grant that by this unsparing hurricaneA
Green leaves with yellow mixed are torn awayB
And goodly fruitage with the mother sprayB
'Twere madness wished we therefore to detainA
With hands stretched forth in mollified disdainA
The trumpery that ascends in bare displayB
Bulls pardons relics cowls black white and greyB
Upwhirled and flying o'er the ethereal plainA
Fast bound for Limbo Lake And yet not choiceC
But habit rules the unreflecting herdD
And airy bonds are hardest to disownE
Hence with the spiritual sovereignty transferredD
Unto itself the Crown assumes a voiceC
Of reckless mastery hitherto unknownE
