Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Xviii - Corruptions Of The Higher Clergy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEFEED

Woe to you Prelates rioting in easeA
And cumbrous wealth the shame of your estateB
You on whose progress dazzling trains awaitB
Of pompous horses whom vain titles pleaseA
Who will be served by others on their kneesA
Yet will yourselves to God no service payC
Pastors who neither take nor point the wayC
To Heaven for either lost in vanitiesA
Ye have no skill to teach or if ye knowD
And speak the word Alas of fearful thingsE
'Tis the most fearful when the people's eyeF
Abuse hath cleared from vain imaginingsE
And taught the general voice to prophesyE
Of Justice armed and Pride to be laid lowD
