Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Xi - Transubstantiation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

Enough for see with dim associationA
The tapers burn the odorous incense feedsB
A greedy flame the pompous mass proceedsB
The Priest bestows the appointed consecrationA
And while the Host is raised its elevationA
An awe and supernatural horror breedsB
And all the people bow their heads like reedsB
To a soft breeze in lowly adorationA
This Valdo brooks not On the banks of RhoneC
He taught till persecution chased him thenceD
To adore the Invisible and Him aloneC
Nor are his Followers loth to seek defenseD
'Mid woods and wilds on Nature's craggy throneC
From rites that trample upon soul and senseD
