Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part Ii. - Iii - Cistertian Monastery Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEEFFE

Here Man more purely lives less oft doth fallA
More promptly rises walks with stricter heedB
More safely rests dies happier is freedB
Earlier from cleansing fires and gains withalA
A brighter crown On yon Cistertian wallA
'That' confident assurance may be readC
And to like shelter from the world have fledC
Increasing multitudes The potent callA
Doubtless shall cheat full oft the heart's desiresD
Yet while the rugged Age on pliant kneeE
Vows to rapt Fancy humble fealtyE
A gentler life spreads round the holy spiresF
Where'er they rise the sylvan waste retiresF
And aery harvests crown the fertile leaE
