Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part I. - Xxxix - Papal Dominion Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAABBADADADA

Unless to Peter's Chair the viewless windA
Must come and ask permission when to blowB
What further empire would it have for nowC
A ghostly Domination unconfinedA
As that by dreaming Bards to Love assignedA
Sits there in sober truth to raise the lowB
Perplex the wise the strong to overthrowB
Through earth and heaven to bind and to unbindA
Resist the thunder quails thee crouch rebuffD
Shall be thy recompense from land to landA
The ancient thrones of Christendom are stuffD
For occupation of a magic wandA
And 'tis the Pope that wields it whether roughD
Or smooth his front our world is in his handA
