Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part I. - Xxx - Canute Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDEFGHHFG

A pleasant music floats along the MereA
From Monks in Ely chanting service highB
While as Canute the King is rowing byB
My Oarsmen quoth the mighty King draw nearA
That we the sweet song of the Monks may hearC
He listens all past conquests and all schemesD
Of future vanishing like empty dreamsD
Heart touched and haply not without a tearE
The Royal Minstrel ere the choir is stillF
While his free Barge skims the smooth flood alongG
Gives to that rapture an accordant RhymeH
O suffering Earth be thankful sternest climeH
And rudest age are subject to the thrillF
Of heaven descended Piety and SongG
