Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part I. - Xx - Other Influences Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEDEFF

Ah when the Body round which in love we clungA
Is chilled by death does mutual service failB
Is tender pity then of no availB
Are intercessions of the fervent tongueA
A waste of hope From this sad source have sprungA
Rites that console the Spirit under griefC
Which ill can brook more rational reliefC
Hence prayers are shaped amiss and dirges sungA
For Souls whose doom is fixed The way is smoothD
For Power that travels with the human heartE
Confession ministers the pang to sootheD
In him who at the ghost of guilt doth startE
Ye holy Men so earnest in your careF
Of your own mighty instruments bewareF
