Ecclesiastical Sonnets - Part I. - Iii - Trepidation Of The Druids Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACDAEFEGHG

Screams round the Arch druid's brow the seamew whiteA
As Menai's foam and toward the mystic ringB
Where Augurs stand the Future questioningB
Slowly the cormorant aims her heavy flightA
Portending ruin to each baleful riteA
That in the lapse of ages hath crept o'erC
Diluvian truths and patriarchal loreD
Haughty the Bard can these meek doctrines blightA
His transports wither his heroic strainsE
But all shall be fulfilled the Julian spearF
A way first opened and with Roman chainsE
The tidings come of Jesus crucifiedG
They come they spread the weak the suffering hearH
Receive the faith and in the hope abideG
