Composed By The Sea-side, Near Calais, August 1802 Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBAACADCE

FAIR Star of evening Splendour of the westA
Star of my Country on the horizon's brinkB
Thou hangest stooping as might seem to sinkB
On England's bosom yet well pleased to restA
Meanwhile and be to her a glorious crestA
Conspicuous to the Nations Thou I thinkB
Should'st be my Country's emblem and should'st winkB
Bright Star with laughter on her banners drestA
In thy fresh beauty There that dusky spotA
Beneath thee that is England there she liesC
Blessings be on you both one hope one lotA
One life one glory I with many a fearD
For my dear Country many heartfelt sighsC
Among men who do not love her linger hereE
