Composed After A Journey Across The Hambleton Hills, Yorkshire Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCABABADEFDFE

Dark and more dark the shades of evening fellA
The wished for point was reached but at an hourB
When little could be gained from that rich dowerC
Of prospect whereof many thousands tellA
Yet did the glowing west with marvellous powerB
Salute us there stood Indian citadelA
Temple of Greece and minster with its towerB
Substantially expressed a place for bellA
Or clock to toll from Many a tempting isleD
With groves that never were imagined layE
'Mid seas how steadfast objects all for the eyeF
Of silent rapture but we felt the whileD
We should forget them they are of the skyF
And from our earthly memory fade awayE
