At Applewaite, Near Keswick Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEDFFE

Beaumont it was thy wish that I should rearA
A seemly Cottage in this sunny DellB
On favoured ground thy gift where I might dwellB
In neighbourhood with One to me most dearA
That undivided we from year to yearA
Might work in our high Calling a bright hopeC
To which our fancies mingling gave free scopeC
Till checked by some necessities severeA
And should these slacken honoured Beaumont stillD
Even then we may perhaps in vain imploreE
Leave of our fate thy wishes to fulfilD
Whether this boon be granted us or notF
Old Skiddaw will look down upon the SpotF
With pride the Muses love it evermoreE
