At Applewaite, Near Keswick Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBAACCADEDFFEBeaumont it was thy wish that I should rear | A |
A seemly Cottage in this sunny Dell | B |
On favoured ground thy gift where I might dwell | B |
In neighbourhood with One to me most dear | A |
That undivided we from year to year | A |
Might work in our high Calling a bright hope | C |
To which our fancies mingling gave free scope | C |
Till checked by some necessities severe | A |
And should these slacken honoured Beaumont still | D |
Even then we may perhaps in vain implore | E |
Leave of our fate thy wishes to fulfil | D |
Whether this boon be granted us or not | F |
Old Skiddaw will look down upon the Spot | F |
With pride the Muses love it evermore | E |
