Among All Lovely Things My Love Had Been Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEDF GDGD HEHE IE E

AMONG all lovely things my Love had beenA
Had noted well the stars all flowers that grewB
About her home but she had never seenC
A glow worm never one and this I knewB
-
While riding near her home one stormy nightD
A single glow worm did I chance to espyE
I gave a fervent welcome to the sightD
And from my horse I leapt great joy had IF
-
Upon a leaf the glow worm did I layG
To bear it with me through the stormy nightD
And as before it shone without dismayG
Albeit putting forth a fainter lightD
-
When to the dwelling of my Love I cameH
I went into the orchard quietlyE
And left the glow worm blessing it by nameH
Laid safely by itself beneath a treeE
-
The whole next day I hoped and hoped with fearI
At night the glow worm shone beneath the treeE
I led my Lucy to the spot 'Look here '-
Oh joy it was for her and joy for meE
