The Quality Of Mercy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHIJIKLM

The quality of mercy is not strain'dA
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heavenB
Upon the place beneath It is twice blestC
It blesseth him that gives and him that takesD
'Tis mightiest in the mightiest it becomesE
The throned monarch better than his crownF
His scepter shows the force of temporal powerG
The attribute to awe and majestyH
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kingsI
But mercy is above this sceptered swayJ
It is enthroned in the heart of kingsI
It is an attribute to God himselfK
And earthly power doth then show likest God'sL
When mercy seasons justiceM
