Sonnets Xiii Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGG

FROM you have I been absent in the springA
When proud pied April dress'd in all his trimB
Hath put a spirit of youth in everythingA
That heavy Saturn laugh'd and leap'd with himB
Yet nor the lays of birds nor the sweet smellC
Of different flowers in odour and in hueD
Could make me any summer's story tellC
Or from their proud lap pluck them where they grewD
Nor did I wonder at the Lily's whiteE
Nor praise the deep vermilion in the RoseF
They were but sweet but figures of delightE
Drawn after you you pattern of all thoseF
nbsp nbsp nbsp Yet seem'd it Winter still and you awayG
nbsp nbsp nbsp As with your shadow I with these did playG
