Sonnet Xix: Devouring Time, Blunt Thou The Lion's Paws Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDEFGFGHI

Devouring Time blunt thou the lion's pawsA
And make the earth devour her own sweet broodB
Pluck the keen teeth from the fierce tiger's jawsA
And burn the long liv'd Phoenix in her bloodC
Make glad and sorry seasons as thou fleetsD
And do whate'er thou wilt swift footed TimeE
To the wide world and all her fading sweetsD
But I forbid thee one more heinous crimeE
O carve not with the hours my love's fair browF
Nor draw no lines there with thine antique penG
Him in thy course untainted do allowF
For beauty's pattern to succeeding menG
Yet do thy worst old Time Despite thy wrongH
My love shall in my verse ever live youngI
