Sonnet 138: When My Love Swears That She Is Made Of Truth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDEFGFGHH

When my love swears that she is made of truthA
I do believe her though I know she liesB
That she might think me some untutored youthA
Unlearn egrave d in the world's false subtletiesC
Thus vainly thinking that she thinks me youngD
Although she knows my days are past the bestE
Simply I credit her false speaking tongueD
On both sides thus is simple truth suppressedE
But wherefore says she not she is unjustF
And wherefore say not I that I am oldG
O love's best habit is in seeming trustF
And age in love loves not to have years toldG
Therefore I lie with her and she with meH
And in our faults by lies we flattered beH
