Sonnet 034: Why Didst Thou Promise Such A Beauteous Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDEDFGFGHI

Why didst thou promise such a beauteous dayA
And make me travel forth without my cloakB
To let base clouds o'ertake me in my wayA
Hiding thy brav'ry in their rotten smokeB
'Tis not enough that through the cloud thou breakC
To dry the rain on my storm beaten faceD
For no man well of such a salve can speakE
That heals the wound and cures not the disgraceD
Nor can thy shame give physic to my griefF
Though thou repent yet I have still the lossG
Th' offender's sorrow lends but weak reliefF
To him that bears the strong offence's crossG
Ah but those tears are pearl which thy love shedsH
And they are rich and ransom all ill deedsI
