-
The March Of The ChildrenB
-
-
-
List to the sound of the drummingC
Gaily the children are comingC
Sweet as the smile of a fairyD
Fresh as the blossoms they carryD
Pride of the parents who love themE
Pure as the azure above themE
Free as the winds that caress themE
Bright as the sunbeams that bless themE
-
-
-
List to the voice echoes ringingC
Sweeter than birds they are singingC
Thoughts that to virtue invite themE
Wed unto airs that delight themE
Truths that their future will cherishF
Soul planted never to perishF
Only to senses completerD
Heaven's choicest music were sweeterD
-
Virtue unconscious and prettyD
Walks through the streets of the cityD
See the gay bannerets flyingC
Mottoes and titles undyingC
Truths dearly hallowed and oldenB
Braided in strands that are goldenB
Words for the spirit's desiringC
Sentences sweetly inspiringC
-
-
-
When in a voice of caressingC
Christ gave the children His blessingC
'Twas not for one generationB
But for each epoch and nationB
So through the present it lingersG
Shed from His bountiful fingersG
So unto these it is givenB
Types of the angels in HeavenB
