The Chaplet Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDE FGFG HIHI BJBJ KLML NONO

A little girl through field and woodA
Went plucking flowerets here and thereB
When suddenly beside her stoodA
A lady wondrous fairB
-
The lovely lady smiled and laidC
A wreath upon the maiden's browD
'Wear it 'twill blossom soon ' she saidE
'Although 'tis leafless now '-
-
The little maiden older grewF
And wandered forth of moonlight evesG
And sighed and loved as maids will doF
When lo her wreath bore leavesG
-
Then was our maid a wife and hungH
Upon a joyful bridegroom's bosomI
When from the garland's leaves there sprungH
Fair store of blossomI
-
And presently a baby fairB
Upon her gentle breast she rearedJ
When midst the wreath that bound her hairB
Rich golden fruit appearedJ
-
But when her love lay cold in deathK
Sunk in the black and silent tombL
All sere and withered was the wreathM
That wont so bright to bloomL
-
Yet still the withered wreath she woreN
She wore it at her dying hourO
When to the wondrous garland boreN
Both leaf and fruit and flowerO
