Commanders Of The Faithful Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAACC DDEEDD FFCCGG

The Pope he is a happy manA
His Palace is the VaticanB
And there he sits and drains his canA
The Pope he is a happy manA
I often say when I'm at homeC
I'd like to be the Pope of RomeC
-
And then there's Sultan SaladinD
That Turkish Soldan full of sinD
He has a hundred wives at leastE
By which his pleasure is increasedE
I've often wished I hope no sinD
That I were Sultan SaladinD
-
But no the Pope no wife may chooseF
And so I would not wear his shoesF
No wine may drink the proud PaynimC
And so I'd rather not be himC
My wife my wine I love I hopeG
And would be neither Turk nor PopeG
