Xiv. On A Distant View Of England. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFGHH

AH from my eyes the tears unbidden startA
Albion as now thy cliffs that bright appearB
Far o'er the wave and their proud summits rearB
To meet the beams of morn my beating heartA
With eager hope and filial transport hailsC
Scenes of my youth reviving gales ye bringD
As when ere while the tuneful morn of springD
Joyous awoke amid your blooming valesC
And fill'd with fragrance every breathing plainE
Fled are those hours and all the joys they gaveF
Yet still I sigh and count each rising waveF
That bears me nearer to your shores againG
If haply 'mid the woods and vales so fairH
Stranger to Peace I yet may meet her thereH
