Xii. Written At A Convent. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFEGG

IF chance some pensive stranger hither ledA
His bosom glowing from majestic viewsB
The gorgeous dome or the proud landscape's huesB
Should ask who sleeps beneath this lowly bedA
'Tis poor Matilda To the cloister'd sceneC
A mourner beauteous and unknown she cameD
To shed her tears unseen and quench the flameD
Of fruitless love yet was her look sereneC
As the pale midnight on the moon light isleE
Her voice was soft which e'en a charm could lendF
Like that which spoke of a departed friendF
And a meek sadness sat upon her smileE
Now here remov'd from ev'ry human illG
Her woes are buried and her heart is stillG
