To The River Itchin, Near Winton Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEEDFFGHGHItchin when I behold thy banks again | A |
Thy crumbling margin and thy silver breast | B |
On which the self same tints still seem to rest | B |
Why feels my heart the shiv'ring sense of pain | C |
Is it that many a summer's day has past | D |
Since in life's morn I carol'd on thy side | E |
Is it that oft since then my heart has sigh'd | E |
As Youth and Hope's delusive gleams flew fast | D |
Is it that those who circled on thy shore | F |
Companions of my youth now meet now more | F |
Whate'er the cause upon thy banks I bend | G |
Sorrowing yet feel such solace at my heart | H |
As at the meeting of some long lost friend | G |
From whom in happier hours we wept to part | H |
