The Grave Of Bishop Ken Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFGF HIHJ KLKL MNMN

On yonder heap of earth forlornA
Where Ken his place of burial choseB
Peacefully shine O Sabbath mornA
And eve with gentlest hush reposeB
-
To him is reared no marble tombC
Within the dim cathedral faneD
But some faint flowers of summer bloomC
And silent falls the wintry rainD
-
No village monumental stoneE
Records a verse a date a nameF
What boots it when thy task is doneG
Christian how vain the sound of fameF
-
Oh far more grateful to thy GodH
The voices of poor children riseI
Who hasten o'er the dewy sodH
To pay their morning sacrificeJ
-
And can we listen to their hymnK
Heard haply when the evening knellL
Sounds where the village brow is dimK
As if to bid the world farewellL
-
Without a thought that from the dustM
The morn shall wake the sleeping clayN
And bid the faithful and the justM
Upspring to heaven's eternal dayN
