The Gipsy's Tent. (from The Villager's Verse-book.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC DEDE FGFH IJIJ

When now cold winter's snows are fledA
And birds sing blithe againB
Look where the gipsy's tent is spreadA
In the green village laneC
-
Oft by the old park pales beneathD
The branches of the oakE
The watchdog barks when in slow wreathD
Curls o'er the woods the smokeE
-
No home receives the wandering raceF
The panniered ass is nighG
Which patient bears from place to placeF
Their infant progenyH
-
Lo houseless o'er the world they strayI
But I at home will dwellJ
Where I may read my book and prayI
And hear the Sabbath bellJ
