Song Of The American Indian Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJK LLMMNNOOPPQR

Stranger stay nor wish to climbA
The heights of yonder hills sublimeA
For there strange shapes and spirits dwellB
That oft the murmuring thunders swellB
Of power from the impending steepC
To hurl thee headlong to the deepC
But secure with us abideD
By the winding river's sideD
Our gladsome toil our pleasures shareE
And think not of a world of careE
The lonely cayman where he feedsF
Among the green high bending reedsF
Shall yield thee pastime thy keen dartG
Through his bright scales shall pierce his heartG
Home returning from our toilsH
Thou shalt bear the tiger's spoilsH
And we will sing our loudest strainI
O'er the forest tyrant slainI
Sometimes thou shalt pause to hearJ
The beauteous cardinal sing clearK
Where hoary oaks by time decayedL
Nod in the deep wood's pathless gladeL
And the sun with bursting rayM
Quivers on the branches grayM
By the river's craggy banksN
O'erhung with stately cypress ranksN
Where the bush bee hums his songO
Thy trim canoe shall glance alongO
To night at least in this retreatP
Stranger rest thy wandering feetP
To morrow with unerring bowQ
To the deep thickets fearless we will goR
