On The Death Of Dr Burgess, The Late Bishop Of Salisbury Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGHEIJKLMNOPQRS T

Sainted old man for more than eighty yearsA
Thee tranquilly and stilly creeping ageB
Led to the confines of the sepulchreC
And thy last day on earth but Father LordD
Which art in heaven how pure a faith and heartE
Unmoved amid the changes of this lifeF
And tumult of the world and oh what hopeG
What love and constancy of the calm mindH
And tears to misery from the inmost heartE
Flowing at times a brief sweet smile and voiceI
How bland and studies various and profoundJ
Of learned languages but ever firstK
That learning which the oracles of GodL
Unfolds even to the close of life's long dayM
Thy course accompaniesN
But thou farewellO
And live this mortal veil removed in blissP
Live with the saints in light whom Christ had lovedQ
But pardon us left in this vale of tearsR
For one last tear upon thy cold remainsS
Pardon beloved and venerated shadeT
