Inscribed To The Marchioness Of Lansdowne Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFFGHH

Go to assemblies of the rich and gayA
The blazing hall of grandeur and the throngB
Of cities and there listen to the songB
Of festive harmony then pause and sayA
Where is she found who in her sphere might shineC
Attracting all Where is she found whose placeD
And dignity the proudest court might graceD
Go where the desolate and dying pineC
On their cold bed open the cottage doorE
Ask of that aged pair who feebly bendF
O'er their small evening fire who is their friendF
Ask of these children of the village poorG
For this at the great judgment thou shalt findH
Heaven's mercy Lady merciful and kindH
