| Here Charity hath fix'd her chosen seat | D |
| Oft listening tearful when the wild winds beat | D |
| With hollow bodings round your ancient walls | C |
| And Pity's self at the dark stormy hour | E |
| Of Midnight when the Moon is hid on high | F |
| Keeps her lone watch upon the topmost tow'r | G |
| And turns her ear to each expiring cry | F |
| Blest if her aid some fainting wretch might save | H |
| And snatch him speechless from the whelming wave | H |
