I. Written At Tinemouth, Northumberland, After A Tempestuous Voyage. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDECFGGFHH

AS slow I climb the cliff's ascending sideA
Much musing on the track of terror pastB
When o'er the dark wave rode the howling blastB
Pleas'd I look back and view the tranquil tideA
That laves the pebbled shore and now the beamC
Of evening smiles on the grey battlementD
And yon forsaken tow'r that time has rentE
The lifted oar far off with silver gleamC
Is touch'd and the hush'd billows seem to sleepF
Sooth'd by the scene ev'n thus on sorrow's breastG
A kindred stillness steals and bids her restG
Whilst the weak winds that sigh along the deepF
The ear like lullabies of pity meetH
Singing the saddest notes of farewell sweetH
