Greenwich Hospital Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDBBEEFFGGHH| Come to these peaceful seats and think no more | A |
| Of cold of midnight watchings or the roar | A |
| Of Ocean tossing on his restless bed | B |
| Come to these peaceful seats ye who have bled | B |
| For honour who have traversed the great flood | C |
| Or on the battle's front with stern eye stood | D |
| When rolled its thunder and the billows red | B |
| Oft closed with sudden flashings o'er the dead | B |
| Oh heavy are the sorrows that beset | E |
| Old age and hard it is hard to forget | E |
| The sunshine of our youth our manhood's pride | F |
| But here O aged men ye may abide | F |
| Secure and see the last light on the wave | G |
| Of Time which wafts you silent to your grave | G |
| Like the calm evening ray that smiles serene | H |
| Upon the tranquil Thames and cheers the sinking scene | H |
