From Idyl Vii (pictures From Theocritus - From Idyl I.) Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFFGGHHIIJFKK K

He left us we the hour of parting comeA
To Prasidamus' hospitable homeB
Myself and Eucritus together wendC
With young Amynticus our blooming friendC
There all delighted through the summer dayD
On beds of rushes pillowed deep we layD
Around the lentils newly cut were spreadE
Dark elms and poplars whispered o'er our headE
A hallowed stream to all the wood nymphs dearF
Fresh from the rocky cavern murmured nearF
Beneath the fruit leaves' many mantling shadeG
The grasshoppers a coil incessant madeG
From the wild thorny thickets heard remoteH
The wood lark trilled his far resounding noteH
Loud sung the thrush musician of the sceneI
And soft and sweet was heard the dove's sad note betweenI
Then yellow bees whose murmur soothed the earJ
Went idly flitting round the fountain clearF
Summer and Autumn seemed at once to meetK
Filling with redolence the blest retreatK
While the ripe pear came rolling to our feetK
