Epitaph On John Harding, In The Churchyard Of Bremhill Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDDEEFGHHII J

Lay down thy pilgrim staff upon this heapA
And till the morning of redemption sleepA
Old wayfarer of earth From youth to ageB
Long but not weary was thy pilgrimageC
Thy Christian pilgrimage for faith and prayerD
Alone enabled thee some griefs to bearD
Lone in old age without a husband's aidE
Thy wife shall pray beside thee to be laidE
For more than a kind father didst thou proveF
To fourteen children of her faithful loveG
May future fathers of the village traceH
The same sure path to the same resting placeH
And future sons taught in their strength to saveI
Learn their first lesson from a poor man's graveI
