Bamborough Castle Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDCEFEFGG

Ye holy Towers that shade the wave worn steepA
Long may ye rear your aged brows sublimeB
Though hurrying silent by relentless TimeB
Assail you and the winds of winter sweepA
Round your dark battlements for far from hallsC
Of Pride here Charity hath fixed her seatD
Oft listening tearful when the tempests beatD
With hollow bodings round your ancient wallsC
And Pity at the dark and stormy hourE
Of midnight when the moon is hid on highF
Keeps her lone watch upon the topmost towerE
And turns her ear to each expiring cryF
Blessed if her aid some fainting wretch may saveG
And snatch him cold and speechless from the waveG
