A Picturesque Cottage And Grounds Belonging To J. Lemon, Esq. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDEFFGGHHIIJJKKLL MMNNOO

Stranger mark this lovely sceneA
When the evening sets sereneA
And starting o'er the silent woodB
The last pale sunshine streaks the floodC
And the water gushing nearD
Soothes with ceaseless drip thine earE
Then bid each passion sink to restF
Should ev'n one wish rise in thy breastF
One tender wish as now in mineG
That some such quiet spot were thineG
And thou recalling seasons fledH
Couldst wake the slumbers of the deadH
And bring back her you loved to shareI
With thee calm peace and comfort thereI
Oh check the thought but inly prayJ
To HE who gives and takes awayJ
That many years this fair domainK
Its varied beauties may retainK
So when some wanderer who has lostL
His heart's best treasure who has crossedL
In life bleak hills and passes rudeM
Should gain this lovely solitudeM
Delighted he may pause a whileN
And when he marks the landscape smileN
Leave with its willows ere he partO
The blessings of a softened heartO
