The Audit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GG

Mere living wears the most of life awayA
Even the lilies take thought for many thingsB
For frost in April and for drought in MayA
And from no careless heart the skylark singsB
-
Those cheap utilities of rain and sunC
Describe the foolish circle of our yearsD
Until death takes us doing all undoneC
And there's an end at last to hopes and fearsD
-
Though song be hollow and no dreams come trueE
Still songs and dreams are better than the truthF
But there's so much to get so much to doE
Mary must drudge like Martha dainty RuthF
-
Forget the morning music in the cornG
And Rachel grudge when Leah's boys are bornG
