The Stable Path Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEDEABABBFBF

The last red rose on the arch has fadedA
The border has mourned for its last white flowerB
The dahlias droop where the frost has raidedC
The grass is wet with an autumn showerB
Dull are the paths with their leaf strewn gravelD
Cold is the wind as it wanders byE
Still there's a path that a man can travelD
Happy at heart though the roses dieE
The path to the stable Though summer be endedA
Though down through the garden no bird be astirB
This path has new melodies tunefully blendedA
The flick of a whip with the clink of a spurB
So on through the yew trees where shadows strike chillerB
Across the paved courtyard at last to the stallF
Where pawing in eagerness chained on the pillarB
Stands champing his bit bars the Pearl of them AllF
